Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk couldn’t get the best of youngster Marcelo PItaluga in training yesterday.
The Brazilian goalkeeper shared a clip on his Instagram of a shooting drill involving some of Liverpool’s first-team players.
Despite all the current rumours, Liverpool still has a game to prepare for this weekend. In order to build on their incredible victory over Newcastle last Sunday, Jurgen Klopp’s team will be anxious to succeed. Despite having only 10 players left, Darwin Nunez sparked a late rally to help his team win three points this season against a probable top-four foe.
Virgil van Dijk, who was given a red card on Sunday, is one player who won’t be playing this weekend. That didn’t stop him and Mohamed Salah, though, from putting Marcelo Pitaluga to the test in Liverpool’s locker room.

Next, Mohamed Salah advances and fires a shot towards the top corner, but Pitaluga pulls off a stunning stop onto the crossbar. Salah can’t believe he’s saved it, while fellow custodian Adrian remarked and called him “Pitaluga Airlines,” alluding to him flying through the air.
Pitaluga makes two outstanding stops in a training video, first stopping Virgil van Dijk and then stopping Mohamed Salah, who can’t believe his curling attempt missed the goal. What Pitaluga decides to do this season will be interesting to watch. Alisson Becker will be Jurgen Klopp’s starting custodian, and Caoimhin Kelleher, despite earlier transfer rumours linking him to a departure, will serve as his backup.
Pitaluga will now have to fight to be the club’s third choice while honing his skills among players like Salah at Liverpool training. Last year, he was out on loan, and this year, doing so would be a nice move for him. Pitaluga, who competed in non-league last season, appears prepared to advance, but it may be challenging to find the proper club at this point in the window.
