The Los Angeles Rams had a great run as they were able to capture an NFC Wild Card spot and lost on Sunday night to the Detroit Lions. However, with another season concluded, the question pops up about if certain players are going to be returning to the team for the 2024 season or not. One player who we needed to monitor was quarterback Matthew Stafford.

The veteran quarterback was asked during his post-game press conference and stated how his plan was to return in 2024 but his wife took it a step further.

Matthew Stafford had a very solid game in the NFC Wild Card Round against his former team in the Detroit Lions as he finished 25-of-36 (69.4 completion percentage) for a season-high 367 yards with a pair of passing touchdowns. Throughout the regular season, he had a 24:11 touchdown-to-interception ratio while being sixth in the league with a 63.6 QBR.

Matthew Stafford is going to be entering the first year of major money on this four-year, $160 million contract as in 2024 he is scheduled to make $31 million as a base salary. With one massive player already saying he is going to return, it will be interesting to see if we hear about any other player’s future in the coming days.

Can Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams compete for the NFC West next season?

This is going to be something that we have a lot of time to discuss but the Rams are certainly in a position to compete with the rest of the division to get the NFC West crown. The team has a good amount of picks and the first time since selecting quarterback Jared Goff, they have a first-round pick.

With the emergence of wide receiver Puka Nacua and having solid players on both sides of the football, they can be a threat to do well. The Rams have also shown the ability to find players later in the draft and attracting free agents to go to Los Angeles is not as difficult as you’d think. With the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers in the division, it will be difficult but there is definitely the chance to win games and make the postseason once again.
