Sky Sports journalist Paul Gilmour has revealed what he heard about Tottenham’s terms for Harry Kane’s acquisition.

On Tuesday, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy confirmed that the north London club have included a buyout clause in Kane’s contract after he leaves Tottenham this summer.

Speaking at a fan forum, he simply said:

“There is a buyback clause,” he said, declining to provide further details on the situation.

Gilmour has since provided further details on the clause, revealing that it is similar to one found in Gareth Bale’s contract with Real Madrid over a decade ago.

If Harry Kane ever decides to return to the Premier League, Tottenham will have first dibs on re-signing him, according to Gilmour (via Football Daily).

“It was something similar they had in the Gareth Bale deal many years ago. What it means is if another English club does come in with a bid for Kane at any point during his Bayern Munich career and Bayern accept that bid, Tottenham would be given first refusal to match that offer, and therefore it would be up to Kane.

“We are in the early stages of Kane’s career at Bayern Munich and he has given every indication that he will see out that contract of three years.”

The 30-year-old is currently preparing for Bayern’s heavyweight clash against Premier League giants Manchester United, who were also keen to sign the striker this summer.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the game, Kane heaped praise on his old club, stating: “I’ll keep an eye on Tottenham for the rest of my life.

“I’m really happy to see the team playing the way they are and to see the fans happy is a great thing. They’ve got a massive game coming up [Arsenal on Sunday] so, for sure, I’ll see how they get on over the course of the season.”
