Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

All three teams have their sights set on Lloyd Kelly for January, but it is still unclear whether they will make a formal offer at that time. According to a report from 90min, the three teams are allegedly planning to trade for the player in January.

Joel Matip, who has not been performing at his peak for some time, has to be replaced with a quality player for Liverpool. Additionally, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate have seen a fair share of injury issues. Since Virgil van Dijk is currently the sole dependable defender at the team, more choices are required.

The Reds’ defence needs additional depth, and Kelly could prove to be a good addition.

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can quickly come to a deal, but the 24-year-old will be thrilled to have the chance to play at a major club like Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Newcastle also needs to plan for the future and needs someone who can cooperate long-term with Sven Botman. Kelly certainly has the qualities to start alongside the Dutchman at the heart of Newcastle’s defence. Newcastle have qualified for the Champions League and the opportunity to play for them could be an attractive option for the player.

Finally, Tottenham also tried to sign this player during the summer transfer window but failed at a price of £20 million. It looks like they’re ready to come back for him in January and hope to sign him for the right price. Spurs could sell players like Eric Dier in January and Kelly would be a quality replacement.

The defender is in the final year of his contract and will become a free agent next summer. Bournemouth will be under pressure to buy him in the winter transfer window and it will be interesting to see which of the three Premier League clubs can ultimately secure his signature. All three clubs represent exciting opportunities for the 24-year-old defender.
