According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, West Ham’s interest in signing Wolves defender Max Kilman in the summer transfer window is “absolutely real”.
The Englishman has established himself as one of Wanderers’ most important players in recent years, proving himself a mainstay at the heart of their defence.
Kilman started all 38 of Wolves’ Premier League matches last season, averaging 4.
7 clearances per game, but he may feel this summer is the time for a new challenge.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to West Ham, while Julen Lopetegui is looking to make key additions ahead of the 2024/25 season, and the rumors refuse to go away.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Romano claims that the Hammers’ interest in Kilman during the summer transfer window remains strong, with their new manager keen to sign him, after working with him at Wolves: “They made two offers the first one was rejected and the second one had a player which was rejected by Wolves.
They want around £45m for Kilman and they probably expect other big clubs to also join the race for Kilman after the transfer window, which is why they are taking their time.
But West Ham’s interest is completely real.
“They like this player, and obviously Julen Lopetegui knows him very well so they keep trying to pick him, I think they will try again.
” Kilman could be the perfect summer signing for West Ham, ticking a lot of boxes when it comes to the type of player they are looking for this summer.
The Wolves hero now has a wealth of experience in the Premier League, with a total of 127 appearances in the competition, his consistency and availability is demonstrated by his aforementioned statistics That was last season.
Now 27, Kilman is both a seasoned professional and a player with the potential to be five or six years ahead at the highest level.
So he could be one of the first names on Lopetegui’s squad list for a while.
In reality, there are very few negatives to West Ham signing him, although the transfer fee could be substantial, so it is a deal the Hammers should consider passing limit as quickly as possible.
