Milwaukee Bucks guard Malik Beasley had another forgettable evening on Thursday in his team’s 118-114 victory over the Orlando Magic. The 27-year-old played in just his second game back after missing two straight games due to a non-COVID illness.
It appears that his recent layoff took its toll on Beasley, with the 6-foot-4 two-guard currently struggling with his stroke over the past two contests.
On Thursday against the Magic, Beasley scored eight points on 3-of-8 shooting. Since returning from injury, he’s averaged 7.5 points on 40 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds and two assists, while also knocking down 1.5 triples on a 33.3 percent clip.
Prior to his brief spell on the sidelines, Beasley was shooting 47.8 percent overall and 45.1 percent from beyond the arc. Needless to say, the veteran guard lost a bit of his rhythm during his time away from the court: “If you look at my history I haven’t missed too many games in my career and most of it’s been because of my kids, so to have an illness was tough for me because I want to stay in rhythm obviously,” Beasley said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Giannis passed me the ball last game (vs. the Spurs) and I didn’t shoot it and he told me, ‘Shoot the ball.’ I’m like, what am I doing? Guess it was first game back.”
Unfortunately for Beasley, he didn’t fare too well in his second game back. Then again, there really is no major cause for concern here. It should only be a matter of time before Beasley finds his shot again — especially with Giannis and the rest of the Bucks having so much confidence in him and his ability to shoot the lights out
