Ipswich Town under-21’s made it back-to-back wins as they beat Barnsley 3-1 at their training centre this afternoon.

Emmanuel Okunowo, Harry Barbrook and Oli Davis scored the goals for young Blues, who continued their good form after last week’s 3-0 victory over Coventry City.

There was just one change from the win over the Sky Blues as Leon Ayinde came in for Gerard Buabo, who suffered a injury in the first half of that game.

It was an eventful start to the match as Blues goalkeeper Henry Gray saved an early penalty, before Okunowo and Barbrook scored within a minute of each other to give them control.

The Tykes were awarded a second penalty before half-time, but Theo Chapman sent his effort wide as the Blues went into the break 2-0 up, although they had to defend multiple chances at the start of the second half.

Barnsley were able to pull a goal back as a dinked ball into the box was controlled and finished calmly by Aiden Marsh, but Town were able to extend their lead when subtitute Davis struck late on to claim all three points for the young Blues.

John McGreal’s side had started their season with three straight defeats, but these two wins will give them confindence to take on different challenges this season.
