Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers have dealt with their share of growing pains this season.

The team is coming off a win on Sunday against the LA Chargers, in which Jordan Love threw for his first 300-plus yard passing game of his career. Not only that, but what made Sunday’s comeback victory special is that Love for contributions from everyone on the offense, namely Green Bay’s fifth-round draft pick Dontayvion Wicks.

On Sunday, Wicks had three catches for 91 yards. All three catches were 25-plus yards or more. (Elias Sports Bureau, Wicks is the first Packers rookie to have three catches of 25-plus yards in a game.

What’s been the catalyst for Green Bay Packers’ WR Dontayvion Wicks’ stellar play?

Heading into the season, it was assumed that Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Aaron Jones would be the team’s best offensive players, Which meant that players such as Luke Musgrave, Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft, and Wicks would have to make the most of their opportunities.

Wicks has outperformed expectations and has cemented himself as the fourth option in the Green Bay offense.

On Sunday, Wicks had a massive 36-yard catch-and-run to set up a Romeo Doubs game-winning 24-yard touchdown reception. On that play, Wicks suffered a concussion, and Green Bay didn’t have another possession after that, but it puts his status on Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions in doubt.

Wicks and Jayden Reed have been underrated aspects of the offense this season and will be a massive part of Green Bay’s young nucleus.

The prospect of Dontayvion Wicks having more of a featured role in the offense is exciting. He needs more of a role in the offense because when he gets the ball in his hands, he does special things. Hopefully, with the season halfway over, Wicks can showcase more of his talent and have a more featured role in the offense.
