The Dallas Cowboys have gotten better every year since Jason Garrett left.

However, their seasons always ended the same, with the San Francisco 49ers in first place. The Cowboys can’t afford to let that happen again, so this Sunday’s game in the Bay Area could be the deciding factor in their season.

In fact, former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson believes their road to the Super Bowl could actually start with a win against the Niners (via Undisputed). “The Cowboys’ road to victory in Super Bowl LVIII begins Sunday night,” Johnson said. The Cowboys looked like the best, or at least one of the best teams in the league in their wins, but they were exposed again in a shocking loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

The offense failed to live up to the expectations and Dak Prescott had a crucial turnover with the game on the line, once again raising concerns about his ability to lead this team over the hump.

That’s why some people still refuse to give them the nod as legitimate Super Bowl contenders just yet, and why a win over the 4-0 Niners could finally change the narrative about them.

Conversely, another ugly loss to Kyle Shanahan’s team could take a big toll on their season, not just because of the record, but also because of the psychological toll it could take on them ahead of a potential rematch in the playoffs.

This isn’t just another game for the Cowboys, and it’s time they make a statement once and for all if they want to be taken seriously.
