Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear believes the Whites have the better part of the deal with Jaidon Anthony arriving at Elland Road, while Luis Sinistra goes in the opposite direction.

Kinnear told the Square Ball Podcast: “He was on our list of targets from the start of the transfer window, but he appears to be central to Bournemouth’s plans. “We gave up. He met on the last day. Jaidon really wanted to be there, he was so excited. “We lost a player who didn’t want to be here. It was frustrating because at the end we had a player like Luis that we wanted to keep. He is ready for anything. We had to accept it.

“We have to make sure we have signed a player who wants to be here and we think he is the right replacement and if you take into account his availability, it is likely to be. a better alternative.”

Leeds United youngster Jamie Shackleton has revealed his delight at Sam Byram’s return to the club after growing up idolizing the Whites academy graduates. Speaking on the official Leeds podcast, Shackleton said:
“It helps to always have people you’ve seen doing it, so I was at the academy, actually it was Sam Byram.

“When he came back I was so excited, I was like ‘Oh my God, I’ve been watching you for weeks, I used to pitch to you, you probably don’t remember me’.

“Yeah, he’s good, to be honest, I just say we’re teammates now, which is crazy to me, but when I was 11-12 years old, I almost completely idolized him . He went through the academy and did everything I wanted at that age, I still tell him all that.
