All the latest Leeds United transfer headlines, including reports on Fortuna Dusseldorf midfielder Ao Tanaka and Real Betis loanee Marc Roca

A tough offer

Fortuna Düsseldorf are reportedly eyeing Ao Tanaka’s departure in the summer and are planning to sell the Japanese international airline to finance their moves. Leeds United were among the clubs interested in the 25-year-old, but the midfielder failed to secure the move many had hoped for.

Now Germany’s Bild have claimed that Leeds’ interest in the player did not go beyond the offer sent in the email. The Whites were reportedly willing to pay around £3m to sign Tanaka and that was the only way Fortuna could get it.

The publication goes on to suggest that the club are still looking for a “potential successor” to Tanaka, suggesting the player is advising his agents to sign a buyer rather than rely on the market. Finally, Daniel Farke strengthened his midfield options with Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara.

About the future of Roca

Marc Roca was one of a number of first-team stars to leave Elland Road in the summer following relegation. The former Bayern Munich midfielder looked to be at his best with the Whites and secured his return to Spain with a season-long loan move to Real Betis.

Previous reports suggested that Roca was desperate to secure his exit from Leeds in the days and weeks leading up to confirmation of the loan deal. However, the 26-year-old insists he was able to remain patient while the clubs reached an agreement.
