Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury has signed a new contract to stay at the Foxes until the summer of 2027.

The 25-year-old Foxes academy graduate has made 91 appearances for the club’s first team, after making his debut in the Carabao Cup in 2017.

Choudhury, an FA Cup winner with Leicester in 2021, spent last season on loan at Watford, who did not make an option to buy him.

“I’m looking forward to playing again now,” Choudhury told the club’s website.

“It’s a great feeling for me and my family. This is my house.

“Obviously I’ve spent most of my life here, with the same people and the same environment.”

Choudhury has played seven times for Enzo Maresca’s Foxes in all competitions so far this season. He has only started one game so far, but started in both of their Carabao Cup wins – against League One Burton Albion and League Two Tranmere Rovers.

Striker Kelechi Iheanacho says Leicester City will “fight until the last whistle” to test Liverpool at Anfield in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The Nigeria international said if the table-toppers beat the in-form hosts in the Premier League, it would be a “big moment” for a club that is rebuilding under Italian coach Enzo Maresca.

Anfield is a really difficult place to get to. If we win, it will be a massive event for the team, the coaches and everyone at Leicester City,” Iheanacho told BBC Radio Leicester’s When You’re Smiling podcast.

“I don’t know what they will come out with, whether they will be strong or will make any changes, but we will go there with the mentality of wanting to win the game.

We didn’t just go there to look around, just to participate and say “thank you”.

“No, we went there to compete with them and fight until the last whistle.”
