Leicester City predicted line-up vs Blackburn: Enzo Maresca faces key decision after injury blow

The latest news from Leicester City is that Callum Doyle is out until the new year with a knee injury, meaning the line-up chosen against Bristol City will have to make at least one change.

Enzo Maresca is having a headache choosing two positions ahead of the Championship match against Blackburn Rovers.

City travel to Ewood Park looking to reclaim top spot in the Championship following Ipswich’s draw with Huddersfield less than 24 hours earlier. A victory will help Maresca’s team widen the gap to two points at the top of the table.

City were dealt a heavy blow before the match with the news that defender Callum Doyle would be out for 12-16 weeks with a knee injury. The loanee has undergone surgery and will now begin rehabilitation.
According to Maresca, the injury to the 19-year-old is the “worst case scenario” as the club has no direct replacement for him. “We have two players for most positions,” he said.

The only position where we only have one is probably Callum because he is left-footed. We will find a solution. We will adapt
The popular choice seems to be James Justin. The City boss was then faced with the decision of whether to play him on the right or left wing, while Ricardo Pereira moved into midfield on the other side.

Both are right-footed, so being right-footed is more natural. Justin impressed in his second-half performance from the left against Bristol City after replacing Doyle so he could stay in that position.

The other key selection decision for Maresca is playing on the wing. Unlike recent years, City now has many options
Kasey McAteer is the current top scorer and was on the scoresheet again against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

But the performances of Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi against Bristol could get them the nod, especially as their pace could prove dangerous against an attacking Blackburn side. Although if that is the case, McAteer can consider himself unlucky not to start
