The latest Leicester City news as Conor Coady has provided an insight into how Enzo Maresca works in his first few months at the club.

Conor Coady, a defender for Leicester City, said that players may “pay back” Enzo Maresca for his efforts at the team by continuing to advance under the manager.

Coady, an English player, joined barely a few weeks after Maresca’s hiring as manager was officially announced. He was the manager’s second acquisition of the summer transfer season. Despite being out due to injury, the defender has observed up close Maresca’s work at Seagrave, particularly now that he has resumed training.

City have enjoyed a successful start under the new boss, winning six and losing just one of their opening seven games in all competitions. They will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Friday night.

Ahead of that game, Coady provided an insight into what it is like to work under Maresca, and how the players will continue to improve under the guidance of the Italian

Coady said on BBC 5Live’s Monday Night Club, “The manager is simply great, the way he goes about it, the way he coaches us, the way he speaks to us, the way he gives us instructions every single day. He has been outstanding. It’s crucial that we continue to grow under him in order to show our appreciation.

The summer signing also outlined one big thing he has noticed about Maresca that makes a big difference with players.

“The biggest thing for me is how personal he is with people, how he can speak to people, and I think that probably comes from being assistant manager as well, because when you’re assistant manager you’re speaking to players, you’re the bridge sometimes between a player and a manager,” he said. “I think he’s brought that here because of how personal he is with players, having conversations with players, letting players know, I’m talking every single player in the squad, with what he wants, giving instructions.”

He added: “Everything he does and the detail he goes into, I’ll probably go out of here at 9pm when we finish and he’ll probably be in the canteen on his ipad doing work, so that’s something that he does. And, for us, I think it’s just brilliant to see, we go onto the training pitch every day willing to learn and willing to get better and knowing he’ll make us better as well.”
