Nat Phillips’ loan transfer to Celtic has been made public.
Prior to tomorrow’s transfer deadline, the centre defender will temporarily transition from Liverpool to the Hoops. The 26-year-old has been chosen by Brendan Rodgers as the best player to fill up the defense’s holes while dealing with an injury crisis. Stephen Welsh, Maik Nawrocki, and Cameron Carter-Vickers won’t be available until at least mid-October. So, when Celtic play Rangers on Sunday, Phillips will join the team and most likely play with Gustaf Lagerbiekle.
The Athletic has reported how long the loan arrangement will last. He will reportedly remain at Celtic until at least January, after which both the Hoops and Liverpool will conduct a situational analysis. The season’s end might then be added to it. Phillips played for Liverpool in just seven games last year. One in the FA Cup, two in the Premier League, two in the EFL Cup, two in the Premier Reserve League.
He has gained first team experience with previous loan spells in recent years at Stuttgart and Bournemouth. Meanwhile, Celtic transfer target Paulo Bernardo is set to arrive in Glasgow today, according to a report. The Benfica winger is poised to become Brendan Rodgers’ latest summer signing. The Scottish Sun reports the 21-year-old is due in Scotland today to finalise talks with the Parkhead club. They state that Bernando will join on an initial loan deal, with the Hoops obtaining the option to buy the player at the end of the season, similar to the previous arrangement with the Portuguese giants for Jota.
