Kelechi Iheanacho insists Leicester City are ready to go when the two sides meet in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Leicester City are one of the teams in good form in England’s top four leagues, having won nine of their 10 matches in all competitions, while Jurgen Klopp’s side have also won all but one.

Iheanacho is a key player under new Foxes coach Enzo Maresca, with 4 goals in 9 appearances in all competitions.

And he seemed to enjoy playing in the Carabao Cup, scoring 10 goals and recording four assists in 23 appearances for former clubs Manchester City and Leicester City.

Iheanacho has revealed that Leicester City have no intention of going into the Carabao Cup tie as underdogs despite the Red Devils being higher up in the English football pyramid. Speaking about the upcoming match, Leicester City’s number 14 said on the club’s official website:

“We’re excited. We know what Anfield is like. There’s a great atmosphere there. We don’t go there for the atmosphere, we go there to compete.

“We played them in pre-season and we are in a good position now. We win the game. It’s a cup match, but we know what they look like. They are a strong team, they have done well in the Premier League this season.

“They will be strong for us, but we really have to work hard to win. Hopefully we can do that, so let’s see what happens. They press very well. We must also pay attention to this.

“We will try to play them a little bit, but we know they are a strong team.”

In 10 appearances against Liverpool, Iheanacho has failed to score and will be hoping to help Leicester City win on Wednesday.
