Western Kentucky went to Ruston last night and wasted no time building a 35-7 advantage over Louisiana Tech. A big part of that was wide receiver Malachi Corley, who scored three touchdowns before halftime and looked truly unstoppable. In other words: whatever he did, it worked, and the assembled Bulldog fan base wanted something he had.

Take it aside. Whatever he had on his side looked like Class A compressed air oxygen shots or whatever they give football players to get them in the right frame of mind for a fight. Corley, to his eternal credit, was generous when asked, at one point handing a can to a man in a funny hat and offensive lineman shirt. A beautiful moment. Some things are bigger than just sports. How to feel good all the time.

Oddly enough, the game turned on that noble sportsmanship as Louisiana Tech mounted a comeback in the second half, eventually falling short 35-28. So maybe the lesson here is to never lower the throttle or the jet, no matter how nice the line looks.
