Callum Wilson says he won’t blow James Maddison’s head off again, suggesting the Tottenham star thinks he’s too good.

The Newcastle United striker admitted that the Tottenham man is “doing well” and that he “loves” watching him, as he told The Footballer’s Football podcast.

After winning the Premier League Player of the Month award for August, James Maddison was crowned man of the match in the north London derby.

This is Tottenham’s biggest game of the season so far, and after the first derby he has been on form – Micky van de Ven says he is already the best he has ever played together.

The 26-year-old had two assists, including one past England team-mate Bukayo Saka.

Well, another of his England team-mates had this to say about the quick-witted playmaker.

James Maddison standing tall for Tottenham

“I think you said enough about him,” said Wilson. “I am not going to repeat it all and make his head blow up anymore because he is already confident as it is.

“He has been doing well, he has been doing well. I like to see it. I enjoy it.”

James Maddison is Mr. Confident

It’s what Spurs have been crying out for, someone with a bit of arrogance, confidence on the ball and the ability to back it up.

Maddison can talk the talk because the results are there for all to see on the pitch.

And after missing out on Europe last term, if he continues down this current road for large parts of the season, then a return to the Champions League could be on the cards.
