TAYLOR MILL, Ky. (WXIX) – Kentucky State Police say a man has died following a police shooting Sunday in Covington.

Taylor Mill Police and Covington police arrived around 3 p.m. at a home on Grand Avenue following a report of a suspect threatening a family member with a knife, according to Covington Police Lt. Justin Bradbury.

Lt. Bradbury says officers went into the home, found the suspect armed with a knife, and one of the officers fired a shot.

Kentucky State Police say a male had life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

It is unclear at this time who fired the fatal shot.

KSP was requested by Covington police because they do not investigate their own department’s police shootings, Lt. Bradbury said.
