An uncommon occurrence where two players contribute money for the same incidence.

Both Nashville Predators winger Michael McCarron and Minnesota Wild forward Mats Zuccarello were fined $2,000 by the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday for acting in an unsportsmanlike manner.

The NHL Players’ Assistance Fund is the recipient of the donation.

The event took place during the Predators vs. Wild game on Thursday night. A minor altercation between the two teams began in the second half of the game when Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov bumped Predators defenseman Alexandre Carrier close to the bench.

Zuccarello was on the bench when McCarron, who was on the ice, hit him during the scrum. For roughing, McCarron was ultimately given a minor penalty, and Zuccarello was given two minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior.

The Predators proceeded to win, 6-1, making it their sixth consecutive victory.

McCarron has previously been subject to additional discipline. He received a two-game suspension in April 2021 for striking Tampa Bay Lightning player Yanni Gourde in the head. With nine goals and eight helpers in 49 games, the native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, is enjoying a career season with the Predators. With only three postseason games played in his career, McCarron has 20 goals and 23 assists in 207 NHL games.
