There is nothing better than basking in the glow of another win by Michigan football over Ohio State. This year’s win marked the first time that the Wolverines have beaten the Buckeyes three straight times since John Cooper was the head coach.

The last win in that three-game winning streak came during the 1997 season, which also saw Michigan football win a national championship. This season, things seem to be playing out similarly, outside of the NCAA investigation.

Without the NCAA investigation looming over Michigan football, it seems likely that Jim Harbaugh would get a new contract extension. It was even reported this week that optimism is high that it will get done.

Michigan president backs Jim Harbaugh

Michigan President Santa Ono was asked about the Harbaugh situation on Wednesday. He said that the University needed to see what happened with the investigations, but Ono said “I trust the guy” — meaning Harbaugh which makes you believe that Ono supports the extension.

Harbaugh is a great asset for Michigan and if the Wolverines want to keep winning like they have been, they should try to keep Jim around for as long as possible. The worst thing Michigan football could do is worry about all of the outside noise.

The NCAA shouldn’t be trusted and as we can see, it doesn’t even enforce its own rules, such as tampering or pay-for-play. This whole Michigan scandal has been a PR hit job and selective prosecution by the NCAA.

I hope Santa Ono and Michigan see through that and ultimately, do the right thing by Harbaugh, which is making him the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten.
