Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos just dropped quite the pearl of wisdom in a recent interview with The Athletic’s Matt Gelb.

While discussing his role in the Phillies’ lineup and how he has grown over the years, Castellanos compared baseball players to milk and wine. Here is how he broke down the analogy, per Gelb:

Castellanos is no stranger to his quotes picking up steam on social media – at the MLB All-Star Game last summer, he notably crowned Scooby-Doo as his favorite superhero. His poorly-timed home runs and on-field interactions with his 10-year-old son have gone viral as well.

The 32-year-old slugger played seven seasons with the Detroit Tigers before he was traded to the Chicago Cubs. After a two-year stint with the Cincinnati Reds, where he made his first All-Star appearance in 2021, Castellanos inked a five-year, $100 million deal with the Phillies.

Castellanos struggled in his first season with the Phillies, but he bounced back in 2023. Heading into 2024, FanGraphs’ ZiPS projections have him on pace to finish the year batting .258 with 23 home runs,

The Philadelphia Phillies got a scare early in Spring Training when Taijuan Walker was absent from camp for personal reasons and had developed some knee soreness that prevented him from pitching. The 31-year-old is coming off a solid first year with the team.
