Formula 1 and PGA Tour stars faced off on the golf course in Las Vegas with Lando Norris disqualified on the very first hole in the inaugural Netflix Cup event.

The Netflix Cup saw Formula 1 and PGA Tour stars face off in a live Las Vegas event – and it turned out to be a chaotic experience.

The first foray into live sports coverage for the streaming giants saw some of the biggest names from two sports square off on the golf course. And it was eventful to say the least, with the fun-filed event far from as serious and regimented as a standard golf event.

Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz Jr, Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly were all paired with professional golfers for a match-play tournament at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas. With the new Las Vegas Sphere overlooking the course as well as hundreds of cameras, there was no chance of getting away with anything untoward.

Norris found that out the hard way on the very first hole. The cheeky McLaren driver was spotted deliberately moving his ball before attempting a putt.

He was disqualified from the hole as a result of his harmless but blatant cheating. Playing alongside Rickie Fowler, the pair soon found themselves one-nil down against his former teammate Sainz and Justin Thomas.

Fans on social media were left in stitches at Norris and his attempts to move his ball closer to the hole before successfully making his easier putt. He was allowed to continue and the pair eventually lost before Carlos Sainz and Justin Thomas won the whole competition.

“Lando picking up the ball and his shot being disqualified im laughing,” one fan wrote. Another said: “Lando picked up the ball????? dude cmon even i know u can’t do that.”

Another fan joked: “Lando picking up the ball is a move Charles would do too let’s be honest,” and a further viewer said: “Lando picking his ball up and moving it to get it in quicker is so funny.”
