The Buffalo Bills got off to a solid start to the post-Ken Dorsey era.
Joe Brady reportedly had one goal and one goal only for his first game as offensive coordinator, and it was to make Josh Allen comfortable and have fun again, via Around The NFL and NFL.com.
“I just wanted him to be Josh Allen,” Brady said. “The fun, the excitement that he kind of plays with — like I feed off of it. At the end of the day, man, this is a game we’re supposed to have fun. I have a ton of fun coaching, I know our guys have a lot of fun playing.”
Judging by the early results, it seems like Brady succeeded.
Allen threw for three touchdowns against one of the best defensive units in the league, passing Patrick Mahomes for the most total touchdowns in a player’s first six seasons in NFL history with 205.
The Wyoming product completed 20 of 32 passes for 275 yards, one touchdown, and one pick (which happened on a Hail Mary before halftime), logging a 108.2 passer rating.
On top of that, for the first time in years, the Bills got a much-needed boost from the running game as well, logging 130 rushing yards, which was obviously the biggest change from the previous regime.
As for their red zone struggles, that didn’t change much, as they went just 1 for 4, but you also have to give Robert Saleh’s team and their defense credit for that.
