According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Buffalo Bills worked out former Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman La’el Collins on Friday in an attempt to make a late-season push. The Bills have won three straight games and four of their last five games as they prepare to make a last-ditch effort to win the AFC East.

Collins last played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. He could provide the AFC East club with depth at either tackle position.

La’el Collins was a standout student at LSU before a police probe ruined his chances of being selected in the NFL draft. He was an undrafted free agent. Collins signed with the Dallas Cowboys and played seven seasons there after not being called a suspect. He was a member of the Cowboys 2021 squad that led the league in scoring, and he started 71 of 74 games that he could have played.

Dallas released Collins in March of 2022, opening the door for the Cincinnati Bengals to sign him to a three-year deal. Collins started 15 games for the Bengals in 2022 but did not appear in a game this season. He started the year on the reserve/PUP lost before the club released him in mid-September.

Although the Buffalo Bills are now two games behind the 11-4 Miami Dolphins, they still have a shot to win the AFC East. On Sunday, Buffalo takes on the suspended New England Patriots, while Miami goes to Baltimore to play the scorching Ravens. In the event that Buffalo wins and Miami loses, Week 18 will see a winner-take-all scenario for the division. Earlier in the season, the Bills defeated the Dolphins 48-20, paving the way for Sean McDermott’s team to sweep its divisional opponents.

But the Bills have a lot of options to go to the postseason, including winning the division. Buffalo is one game ahead of four 8-7 teams for the second slot in the AFC Wild Card race.
