PITTSBURGH — The AFC North picture continues to change, and despite the Cleveland Browns being the driver’s seat of their playoff future, they’ve lost another quarterback for the season, leaving them with limited depth on the roster.  The Browns announced rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson will head to Injured Reserve due to a hip injury. The rookie started three games this season, and played in eight, but will not be shut down for the remainder of the year.Cleveland already placed starter Deshaun Watson on IR this season due to a shoulder injury. They’ve since signed P.J. Walker back to their active roster, providing backup to Joe Flacco, who will be their starter for the remainder of 2023.

The Browns currently hold the 5th seed in the AFC with a 10-5 record. With back-to-back losses, the Steelers could catch them at 10-7, but Pittsburgh’s efforts are likely focused more on surpassing the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts to The Browns will have a tricky situation next year with Flacco saying he does not plan to retire after the season. With Watson taking on a $63 million cap hit in 2024, Cleveland could be faced with removing Flacco no matter how far he leads the team into the playoffs.
