Summer signing Conor Coady has confirmed that he is now back in training as he ramps up his recovery from a foot injury.

After arriving at Leicester City in the summer, the defender suffered an injury during pre-season, which prevented him from making his debut for the club. But it could happen soon.

After spending the first few weeks in the protective boot and watching from the sidelines, Coady is now close to returning. He was supposed to return to practice last week, and it appeared he was. The 30-year-old was seen taking part in a game of rondos with his teammates in clips released by the club during the week, to the delight of fans on social media. It remains unclear whether Friday night’s game will come too soon, but it appears he is edging closer to making his long-awaited debut for the club.

Before the match, Coady himself gave an update, confirming he was “back on the field”. The defender also confirmed that he had a broken foot.

“It happened two weeks before the season, I was heartbroken,” he told BBC5Live’s Monday Night Club. “It was something I tried to toy with a bit, but then I realized something was wrong, I ended up breaking a bone in my foot.

“I’ve never been injured before, so to come here and get it back at that point was a really shocking moment if I’m completely honest, but it’s something I’m looking forward to now . Now I’m back on the field with the boys, training, feeling good, feeling strong and hopefully we can attack the season now as much as possible.
