Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh’s season has been marred in controversy thanks to the sign-stealing scandal surrounding their program. This could muddy the waters of his future at Michigan. And one NFL team is reportedly interested in potentially bringing Harbaugh back to the NFL.

Harbaugh was famously involved in a number of NFL coaching searches after the 2021 season. He was even a final candidate for the Minnesota Vikings coaching job before Kevin O’Connell ultimately got the job.

Since then, Harbaugh has remained adamant that he plans to stay at Michigan and not return to coaching in the NFL moving forward. But the controversy surrounding Michigan’s football program could be just enough to change his mind.

If he does indeed change his mind, the Chicago Bears could potentially be interested in him. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Wednesday, sharing that the Bears have “had conversations” about potentially hiring Harbaugh if they part ways with current head coach Matt Eberflus.

“Ever since Jim (Harbaugh) left the NFL his name has always been in the mix. But that has heated up over the last week or so. The Chicago Bears are an organization that I have heard have had conversations about that depending on what decisions they make about their coaching staff that is in place. His name is certainly respected in league circles around the NFL. I certainly think this is just going to continue as we get closer to the end of the NFL season.”
