Before the Boston Red Sox beat the San Francisco Giants at Fenway Park on Tuesday, the front office was working the phones and getting a deal done.
According to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo, the Red Sox agreed to a deal with the Chicago White Sox which will send left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn to Boston for cash. Cotillo reports that Horn will be in Triple-A Worcester but will be on Boston’s 40-man roster.
Horn, 26, was drafted by the White Sox in the fifth round of the 2020 draft but was traded to the Chicago Cubs in 2021.
He’s yet to make his MLB debut, but in 48 appearances of his two seasons in Triple-A work, he’s posted a 5.68 ERA, 1.658 WHIP and a 10.5 K/9.
Boston’s chief baseball officer Craig Breslow served as the Cubs’ assistant general manager while Horn was in Chicago, so he’s familiar with his abilities, and he’s clearly someone he targeted to come to the Red Sox.
