The Los Angeles Rams unearthed one gem at running back in the form of Kyren Williams, so could they be getting back another capable of helping their present playoff push in Ronnie Rivers? The Rams designated Rivers to return from injured reserve and practice on Tuesday, opening a 3-week window for the team to activate him to the 53-man roster. For now, L.A. still only have Williams and Royce Freeman at running back on the roster, so that might indicate that Rivers is back as soon as Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints.

Or he needs more practice and will miss another game or two.

Rivers, a former undrafted free agent out of Fresno State, has 13 carries for 57 yards this season. In this season’s overtime win against the Colts, Rivers had nine carries for 47 yards and two catches for 10 yards. He had nine carries for 21 yards as a rookie in 2022.

He was originally signed by the Cardinals and spent less than a week on the Seahawks before getting added to the Rams practice squad in 2022.
