Although not the result Man City wanted, taking the lead at Anfield was a positive thing for the away team when Kasey McAteer opened the scoring in the third minute.

Goals from Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota settled things for the Premier League side in the second half, but the Foxes remained resolute in trying to play from behind.

“It’s difficult to play here,” said Ricardo, the Portuguese international. “We knew that before. The way we play, we try to play from the back and make some plays. There were some good games against a really tough opponent.

Ricardo realized positive things from the Red Devils’ defeat
Ricardo Pereira provides an update on Leicester City’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

“We knew they were going to be after us in the second half. We know that, but unfortunately they have a lot of quality players.

“This is not the best time to [concede] a goal (to equalize). Even though we were eliminated from the tournament, I think we have some positives to take away. If you want to progress, you must constantly try, even if you sometimes make mistakes here and there.

“It’s a learning process. We’re still learning. We’ve had about three months of playing this style of play. To come here and try to compete, it shows how brave we are.”

Liverpool won the Carabao Cup
Kasey McAteer’s opener was canceled out by Liverpool in the second half of their third round tie at Anfield.

It’s a return to Sky Bet Championship duty for league leaders Leicester on Sunday with an away trip to 14th-placed Blackburn Rovers, who launched a sustained promotion campaign last season.

The Lancashire side also beat Man City in the Emirates FA Cup, so Enzo Maresca’s side will be looking forward to another testing outing at Ewood Park. Ricardo said preparations have now begun for the clash with Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Rovers.

“It was a quick change,” he added. “Now it’s about resting and preparing for the next match to continue winning. [The schedule] is not much different. We are used to that. It’s just about managing the team and making sure we’re ready for the match. »
