Garth Crooks has given his assessment of how Everton fared in their matchup with Sheffield United.

Everton drew 2-2 with newly promoted Sheffield United on Saturday to earn their first Premier League point of the year thus far.

The team of Sean Dyche had to struggle to win. Abdoulaye Doucoure’s first Premier League goal for the Toffees this season gave them the lead, but the Blades came back to square the game.

With just a few seconds left, the home team was awarded a corner. Oli McBurnie stood tall to head the net into the goal. Jordan Pickford made a spectacular save to recover the ball with the help of goal. England’s blocked shot was again made to keep the ball as the Sheffield United forward struggled to refocus on the track.

Pickford’s latest feats earned him a spot on Garth Crook’s Team of the Week. However, the BBC Sport pundit was less kind to the rest of the Everton team. “If Everton want to survive this season they can’t concede two goals, especially when they score two away,” he said. Their problem is not their poor finishing ability, but their lousy defense.

Everton appears flimsy at the back.

Everton’s lack of goals has received a lot of attention. Due to their close call with Premier League relegation last season, it was a major problem for the Merseyside club.
