After losing Declan Rice this summer, West Ham has had a strong start to the season and is still growing.

In the end, David Moyes got his wish and used the proceeds from Rice’s sale to sign a number of new players.

Of course, James Ward-Prowse’s arrival in midfield was one of his most significant additions. And in the opinion of Leon Osman, that summer’s best signing was actually that one.

Of course, one of the main signings he made was in midfield, where James Ward-Prowse arrived. And according to Leon Osman, that signing is actually the best one of the entire summer.

Osman says Ward-Prowse is the best Premier League signing

Speaking on Premier League productions about all things transfer window related, Osman was asked who he thought had made the best signing overall.

And in a quite surprising answer, the former Everton man went with new Hammers midfielder Ward-Prowse.

“This might surprise people. I think signing James Ward-Prowse is a great signing for West Ham. You lost Declan Rice and made some money but spent only £30m on a player who took over after three games. So I chose James Ward-Prowse,” Osman said.

The set-piece specialist has adapted quickly to life as a Hammer and appears to be the man David Moyes was hoping to sign.

As Osman notes, it does seem like a great deal at about £30 million.

A successful signing

James Ward-Prowse was one of those club signings this summer that you just know is going to be successful.

He’ll be a major player for West Ham this season, and it’s huge that they went out and spent a little portion of the Rice cost to get him.

Osman’s selection here actually makes a lot of sense, despite the fact that given the number of players who moved this summer it might appear odd.

Without a doubt, West Ham got a deal at £30 million.
