Ray Parlor urges Everton to sign Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku live on talkSPORT
talkSPORT pundit Ray Parlor has urged Everton to consider signing Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea in the final week of the transfer window.

Lukaku did not feature in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for Chelsea’s first two Premier League games of the season.

A return to Serie A with Juventus now looks unlikely, meaning the Belgium international is likely to face a season where he will be sidelined at Stamford Bridge.

But Parlor followed Tony Bellew and journalist Dan Bardell to pitch Lukaku back to Goodison Park.

“Well, I was just wondering, what about Everton?” he said on TalkSPORT’s Breakfast Show [August 25, 06:
25).

“I know they don’t have a lot of money right now, but can they lend? Because he played really well at Everton right?

Maybe Everton fans will say: ‘We need a better attacking force right now’. Maybe Lukaku is the right fit?

Nothing to prove

Everton are in dire need of a new striker, while Lukaku is simply in need of some love after being ostracized by Chelsea.

So the deal makes perfect sense or at least it would if it weren’t for the money.

Chelsea had previously expected around £35m from Juventus for Lukaku [Evening Standard], which is out of the Everton price range.

The Toffees may be willing to spend big on Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto, but they know the youngster has resale value. However, a low-cost transfer or loan could be very attractive and Everton should at least open a dialogue with Chelsea.

This assumes that Lukaku will be interested in joining Everton, with whom he previously scored 87 goals in 166 appearances over four seasons.

Only 30 years old, but he still has a lot to offer. Having proven everything to prove, finding a place where he can enjoy his football should be a priority.

The famous quote suggests that you should never get back with your ex, but in this case, it was an almost fitting transfer.
