While rumors swirled at the end of the 2023 NFL season that the Philadelphia Eagles could pull the trigger on a head coaching change, the organization did not remove Nick Sirianni from his role and his boss recently explained the pitch that helped him keep the job.

After a fantastic start to the season where they won 10 of their first 11 games, the Eagles seemed on a path to return to the Super Bowl last season. However, from that point on they fell into an epic downward spiral as they lost five of their final six, coughed up the NFC East title, and lost in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs.

The fall from the top ranks of the NFL led to a huge amount of speculation that the organization could fire head coach Nick Sirianni after his choices to replace their departing offensive and defensive coordinators proved to be disastrous. However, to the disappointment of some Eagles fans, owner Jeffrey Lurie held on to the coach who had them on the brink of winning another championship in the 2022 season.

Many have wondered what was the deciding factors that led the NFL boss to stand pat with Sirianni. Well, on Tuesday at the annual offseason owner meetings Lurie explained how his head coach’s complete open-mindedness to who will be their new top coordinators played a major role in him sticking around as head coach.
