Football Insider has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have competed with Newcastle United to sign Croatian prodigy Luka Vuskovic.

Spurs announced on Monday that they have reached an agreement with Hajduk Split for the transfer of the 16-year-old, who will join the north London club in 2025.

The Lilywhites revealed that the young centre-back has signed an N17 contract until 2030.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on the Here We Go podcast last week that Vuskovic has been on the radar of several big European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, who have both tried to sign him that for a few months.

Newcastle were also keen on Luka Vuskovic

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs also beat out Newcastle to land Vuskovic.

The report explains that the Magpies made a late move for the youngster and made contact with the player’s entourage over a potential deal.

However, the St James Park hierarchy were allegedly informed that Vuskovic had already made the decision to sign for Tottenham.

The outlet adds that the deal to bring the centre-back to Spurs is thought to be worth around £8.7m.

Based on the number of top European sides who have been credited with an interest in Vuskovic, it is clear that his signing is a major coup for Tottenham.
