Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is reportedly considering an exit from the club during the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old had expected to play more often this season but things have not gone according to plan for the Argentine international.

According to Fichajes, Real Betis are interested in the midfielder and the player has expressed his desire to join the Spanish club despite offers from other clubs.

Lo Celso believes he will be able to showcase his qualities regularly by joining Real Betis and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared for his departure in January.

The report claims the player and his agent are “working hard to find a solution”.

Apparently, the player has also attracted interest from clubs such as Barcelona, but he made a “clear choice”: wanting to join the club coached by Manuel Pellegrini .

The 27-year-old has played for Real Betis in the past so it is no surprise that he wants to return to the Spanish club. He hopes to get his career back on track with regular football once the transfer is complete.

There is no doubt that Lo Celso is a top-quality playmaker but his opportunities are limited at Spurs. The North London outfit have already signed James Maddison earlier this summer and the Argentine is unlikely to have ample opportunities.

Leaving in January would be ideal for all parties. Spurs should look to reinvest that money into a striker.
