The Minnesota Vikings are on bye this week and many players have taken the opportunity to head to a tropical destination. For Kirk Cousins, that opportunity is complicated as he continues to recover from a torn Achilles suffered in an Oct. 29 win over the Green Bay Packers.

With the Vikings quarterback still unable to walk without crutches, heading to the beach seems like an inconvenience but he made the most of it by crawling on all fours into the ocean in a video posted to his Instagram account.

Cousins’ ability to make lemonade out of lemons is nothing new. He showed up to a team function on a scooter two days after suffering the injury and dished out Thanksgiving meals on a pair of crutches last month.

While Cousins hasn’t gone as far as Aaron Rodgers, who returned to practice this week after suffering an Achilles tear in the opening game of the season, the video had fans joking he could return to save the Vikings offense at some point as Kevin O’Connell decides between Josh Dobbs, Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall to start the next game against the Raiders on Dec. 10.

When Jefferson was hurt, Kirk Cousins was still the starter for the Vikings. But Cousins was lost to a season-ending injury in November and the Vikings won the next two games primarily behind trade deadline acquisition Joshua Dobbs.

Dobbs threw four interceptions in Monday’s loss, opening the door to the Vikings weighing making another change during the bye week. Of Jefferson’s 360 career receptions, 354 were on passes thrown by Cousins.
