Tottenham are ready to accept January offers for defender outcast Eric Dier, sources have told Football Insider.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, meaning the mid-season window is Spurs’ last chance to cash in.

Football Insider revealed last week (September 29) that Dier does not feature in Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Tottenham despite returning to the bench in recent matches.

He was on the squad for matches against Arsenal and Sheffield United last month, but was completely absent when Postecoglou’s team defeated Liverpool 2-1 on Saturday (September 30).

The England international received offers during the summer transfer window but chose to stay at the north London club.

Since then, he has been linked with a potential reunion with former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho at Serie A giants Roma in January.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (October 1) that Dier may seriously consider this move, although he initially planned to terminate his contract and leave for free in 2024. The defender has yet to play a single minute for Tottenham in the 2023-24 season.

This despite regularly appearing at the heart of Spurs’ defense under former managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Last season, Dier appeared in 42 matches in all competitions, playing exclusively as a central defender.

Cristian Romero and summer signing Micky van de Ven have forged a formidable defensive partnership for Postecoglou’s side.

However, Football Insider revealed on Saturday (September 30) that the Australian wants to add another centre-back to the Tottenham squad in January.

Spurs are one of only two teams with an unbeaten record in the Premier League this season, winning 17 points out of a possible 21.

The Lilywhites will play Luton on Saturday 7 October.
