Step aside, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce—there’s a new power couple taking the spotlight in the NFL. Olympic champion gymnast Simone Biles couldn’t contain her excitement as her husband, Jonathan Owens, clinched his first NFL touchdown during the Green Bay Packers’ Thanksgiving triumph over the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions with a score of 29-22.

Owens, a safety for the Packers, seized the opportunity and dashed into the end zone following a fumble from Lions quarterback Jared Goff in the first quarter. This pivotal moment added to Biles’ gratitude on ‘Turkey Day.’

“THATS MY HUSBAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” exclaimed the four-time Olympic gold medalist on X, formerly Twitter, in response to the exhilarating footage of Owens’ touchdown. In a subsequent post, she joyfully added, “A PACKERS WIN BABY!!!!!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving.”

Owens’ inaugural touchdown provided the Packers with an unexpected 20-6 lead against the Lions, who entered the game with an impressive 8-2 record for the season.

“I didn’t believe it; it didn’t feel like real life at first,” expressed Owens post-game. “It was my first time being in the end zone since high school. Man, it was a great feeling.”

After guiding the Green Bay Packers to a 23-20 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers the previous weekend, quarterback Jordan Love delivered another stellar performance, throwing for 268 yards and three touchdowns on 22-of-32 passing. This win propelled the Packers to a 5-6 season record.

Unfortunately for the Lions, their Thanksgiving woes persist, with the team having not secured a victory on this holiday since 2016.

Biles and Owens tied the knot in April, a few months before the gymnastics icon made a competitive return to the sport following a two-year hiatus. During an appearance on NBC’s “Today” show earlier this year, Biles shared that the couple has navigated a mostly long-distance relationship since getting married, each passionately pursuing their respective sports.

She also expressed her aspirations to compete in the upcoming Paris Olympics, aiming to solidify her status as the most decorated gymnast of all time. In a remarkable feat last month, Biles claimed her 23rd world championship gold medal in Belgium, establishing herself as the most decorated gymnast, male or female, in history.
