To say that Damian Lillard is an elite scorer would be a massive understatement at this point in his career. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar just eclipsed 20,000 career points during Thursday’s win over the Spurs, which is actually everything you need to know about Dame being one of the most dangerous scorers in league history.

Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard is an Artist

According to Bucks teammate Pat Connaughton, what people fail to appreciate about Lillard is how he’s a maestro on the basketball court. It’s easy to get used to seeing Lillard’s shot hit the bottom of the net — especially during crunch time — but what Connaughton is trying to point out is that Dame puts a lot of thought and effort in every single one of his points:

“The art that he has of scoring and the way that he is tactical about it, the way that he thinks about it and the way that he’s able to do it in so many different ways – I think that’s what people don’t understand how difficult that is,” Connaughton told Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “And how difficult it is to do consistently.”

I see no lies here. The fact that Lillard is still able to go on his offensive explosions night in and night out despite opposing teams putting out their best defensive game plan against him speaks volumes of Dame’s unbridled socring ability.

Lillard and Connaughton Go Way Back

It’s not just in Milwaukee that Connaughton has had a chance to witness Lillard’s greatness first hand. Connaughton actually started off his career with the Portland Blazers back in 2015. He spent the first three years of his career in Portland alongside Lillard before Connaughton signed with the Bucks as a free agent in 2018.

The pair reunited in Milwaukee this past summer, and Connaughton was one of the players that helped smoothen Dame’s transition with the new team.

Given all this, you can argue that Connaughton is a bit of an authority when it comes to all things Dame Lillard.
