Olivier Giroud, a center-forward on international duty for France, walked off the field with a left ankle injury, which is bad news for Milan.

The striker was part of the starting line-up for tonight’s EURO 2024 qualifying match against the Republic of Ireland in Paris.

He underwent treatment earlier in the game with a spray on his left ankle.

Giroud then tried to keep playing, but tripped when trying to catch a pass from his Milan teammate Theo Hernandez, the veteran waved to the bench and asked to be substituted in the 25th minute.

The French legend will turn 37 later this month and will have to remove his left shoe before hobbling off the pitch in pain.

He was replaced by Inter striker Marcus Thuram. This is the worst news for Milan, as they will play the Scudetto against arch-rivals Inter on Saturday after an international break.

Giroud has had an impressive start to the season, scoring four goals in just three Serie A games while also providing one assist.
