The San Francisco 49ers, who were only a half a step away from raising the Lombardi Trophy, had their sights set on Super Bowl LVIII.

Before Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs put on a spectacular run to force OT, the 49ers led by ten points at the half and were in control of the game.Mahomes marched down the field and connected Mecole Hardman for a touchdown to win the game after San Francisco scored a field goal in the extra session.

Fans of the 49ers must have found it difficult to watch their team disintegrate the way it did, but at least they will still be in the running for a Super Bowl in 2024.

According to Dan Graziano of ESPN via 49ers on NBCS, San Francisco is reportedly considering bringing back Chase Young, even though the defensive line may use some reinforcements.Edge rusher Chase Young, who was a bit of a letdown for the 49ers following their deadline deal to acquire him from Washington but is still only 24 and has a fantastic relationship with standout 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa, is someone the team is at least somewhat interested in bringing back, according to Graziano. Because of his potential and talent, oung’s arrival to the Bay Area during the NFL trade deadline was seen as a success for the 49ers.

However, others believed San Francisco would allow Young to go in free agency in order to recover a compensation pick because he didn’t have much of an influence during the regular season or the postseason.
