Alabama football needs to rebuild its wide receiver room in 2024 and Germie Bernard should help the cause.

The former Washington skill player told ESPN that he expects to commit to his former coach Kalen DeBoer and the Tide while on a visit Sunday night. Bernard officially announced his choice through social media. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Bernard is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada, and started seven games for the Huskies last fall. He caught 34 passes or 419 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball 13 times for 43 yards and two more scores. As a kick returner, Bernard averaged 23.3 yards per touch.

Bernard was a four-star prospect in the class of 2022. He was the Gatorade Player of the Year from Nevada in 2021. He originally committed to UW but was eventually let out of his national letter of intent and signed with Michigan State. He returned six kicks as a freshman for the Spartans before transferring to the Huskies.

It was the second UA addition of the weekend and the second from DeBoer’s former program. Offensive lineman Parker Brailsford announced his commitment on Saturday, giving Alabama its new center. Austin Mack, a freshman quarterback, transferred on Jan. 18.

Alabama has lost multiple key pass-catchers through the portal and the NFL Draft. Kobe Prentice is Alabama’s leading receiver set to return this spring, totaling 18 catches for 314 yards. Isaiah Bond, who hauled in the Jalen Milroe miracle on 4th-and-31 at the Iron Bowl, opted for Texas after Nick Saban’s retirement.
