The Toronto Argonauts announced on Monday that they have extended the contract of 2 of their star players including defensive end Folarin Orimolade as well as wide receiver DaVaris Daniels. Both Orimolade and Daniels had 1 season left on their contract and now have 2 seasons left as both players are signed through 2025. The Argonauts also announced the signing of American running back DeAndre Torrey.
Folarin Orimolade was simply a beast this past season which was his first with the the double blue. He played in 17 regular season games during which he had 36 tackles, 10 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.
Orimolade added 3 tackles and 2 sacks in Toronto’s playoff loss to Montreal in the East Final. By my count, he also added a QB hurry and assisted with a run stop.
He finished the season with the 4th highest Pro Football Focus pass-rushing grade and was the 2nd highest-rated defensive end in that metric. According to PFF, he had 66 total pressures generated over the regular season. He was named a CFL East Division All-Star team. He was also named to PFF’s CFL All-Star team this past season.
Prior to the CFL Orimolade was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Rams coming out of Dartmouth.
