Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers great Terrell Owens was reportedly involved in a dispute following a basketball game that escalated very quickly.

Although Terrell Owens walked away from the NFL over a decade ago he has still been able to keep his name in the limelight. Be it through a recent public dispute with ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith or while playing in the Arena Football League last year, the 49-year-old is still making headlines in retirement.

That was again the case on Monday night but this time for a very scary reason. TMZ Sports was the first to report that the man the San Francisco 49ers drafted in 1996 was involved in a pickup basketball game in Calabasas, California yesterday. However, a dispute arose between Owens and another player in the game.

It seems the heat between the two hit a fever pitch and local authorities claim the unidentified individual got into his car and drove into Owens, hitting him in the knee. Fortunately, police who arrived on the scene claimed the former Cowboys receiver did not require medical attention after the incident.

“Law enforcement says officers took a report for assault with a deadly weapon … though no arrests have been made. An investigation remains ongoing,” TMZ reported.

Owens ended his 15-year career in the NFL in 2010, following stints with the 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, Bills, and Bengals. He is third all-time in receiving yards, eighth in receptions, and third in touchdowns. He was inducted into the 2018 class of the Professional Football Hall-of-Fame.
