Steph Cain, Essendon’s co-captain, will not play in this weekend’s elimination final against Geelong due to a hamstring injury he sustained last week.

The midfielder’s recuperation is anticipated to take five to six weeks, meaning he might miss the rest of the campaign.

After recovering from a concussion, Cain had returned to training, but on Tuesday she pulled her hamstring.

Cain was disappointed, according to Megan Smith, Head of Medical Services.

Steph had made a full recovery from the concussion she had against West Coast in round nine, according to Smith.

“Unfortunately, she will be out for the next five to six weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained during a harmless training incident.”

Moving forward Daria Bannister underwent a successful ACL surgery, and she is recuperating nicely.

“Daria is doing well after undergoing ACL surgery. Smith stated, “We are currently managing the range of motion and swelling.”

Daria will begin moving away from crutches and into strength-based activities this coming week.

The 22-year-old midfielder Alana Barba is making good progress in her recovery from a syndesmosis injury, as seen by her increased jogging volume.
