Pickford cost Everton win against Brighton

Michael Ball, the star of Everton, believes that Jordan Pickford cost them three points on Saturday against Brighton.

Up until Ashley Young’s late own goal, the Blues were ahead.

“I can’t help but feel that Jordan Pickford let himself down on Saturday afternoon,” Ball wrote in an article for the Liverpool Echo. To score for Brighton, he just needs to perform better.

“And when I say he should improve, it’s not about stopping Kaoru Mitoma’s cross that Ashley Young deftly deflected; rather, it’s about his part in setting up the move that results in the Brighton player picking up the ball wide.

Jordan’s kicking is undoubtedly amazing when it happens, but on Saturday he had no excuse to rush it, which allowed Brighton to regain possession of the ball and equalize a few seconds later.

“He is not required to always pursue the Hollywood ball. Sometimes he ought to be taking his time and reading the room.”
