“Points deduction” – Victor Orta takes aim at Everton following Leeds United Departure

Victor Orta, a former director of football at Leeds United, asserted that if Everton had been penalized for their financial fair play violations, his last few months with the team could have been different.

The Whites are hoping to bounce straight back to the Premier League this season after being relegated on the final day last term.

Their status was confirmed when Everton beat Bournemouth at Goodison Park, consigning Leeds and Leicester City to the drop, despite being investigated for breaching financial fair play rules.

What punishment do Everton face?

An independent investigation is underway to see Everton potentially charged for their financial records, posting losses of £317.8million, miles beyond the £105million permitted.

The Premier League expressed their disapproval last month when they suggested deducting Sean Dyche’s team 12 points in the event that they were discovered to have committed misconduct.

In a letter to Everton’s prospective new owners, 777, Leeds, Leicester, and Burnley announced their intention to sue the Toffees in this regard, hoping to recover their losses of over £100 million from leaving the premier league.

Victor Orta comments on Everton

Former Leeds Director of Football Victor Orta has now spoken about his exit from Elland Road to the Daily Mail, where he believes life could have been different if the Toffees had been punished.

Much sooner, the Premier League began to distribute the money more equitably. LaLiga was incredibly unjust in the first four TV rights agreements. And among the first teams to make that point was Sevilla. In England, the distribution has been more equitable over thirty years.

However, one thing about England that I dislike is their disregard for the financial fairplay regulations. La Liga is attempting to establish financially stable clubs that break even.

“Perhaps if Everton’s point deduction had applied to the previous season, my future might have been different, for better or worse.”

Would you welcome any of the loan players back?

Even though Everton was punished last season, we would have still lost, even though Orta might have left on better terms if Leeds had stayed up.

It makes little difference that Leicester finished ahead of us; we were the second worst team in the league after 38 games, finishing in 19th place.

Orta’s contributions to the team are essentially the main reason we are in the Championship.

His legacy at the club is summed up by all of the players who are out on loan because they are just not good enough.
