It’s just a projection at this time but insiders have it on good authority that Michael Thomas will be departing from the New Orleans Saints. He’s been with the team his whole NFL career and it’s going to be tough to watch him go.

If there’s one thing about Michael Thomas, and that’s that he’s a winner. He’ll find himself another team to go out with when he finally decides to leave the NFL for good. But the Saints fans just hope that this doesn’t come back to bite them in the derrière as it always seems to do in these cases.

“I appreciate the situation I’m in. I’ve progressed within the system. It’s exciting for me,” said Mathieu. “Being where I am in life right now, I cherish being in New Orleans, surrounded by family, immersed in the community.”

“For me, having that additional year to pursue all the things I want to accomplish while being home, that holds significant value,” Mathieu emphasized.

Over the past two seasons, Mathieu has started in 34 games for the Saints, tallying seven interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

A finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2011 during his sophomore year at LSU, Mathieu was selected in the third round by the Arizona Cardinals in 2013 following a season-long hiatus in 2012 due to team rule violations.
